Tracy McGrady sizzled at the end, with 13 points in the last quarter, and led the Rockets with 25 points plus 8 rebounds. Yao Ming had 7 rebounds and was held in check by the T-wolves all night.
Kevin Garnett ended the game on a 3-pointer for 25 points, but he could muster only 4 rebounds on the night. Michael Olowokandi (6), Wally Szczerbiak (5) and Mad Dog Madsen (5) spread the rebounding load. Wally had 12 points and Kandi 10,
The Timberwolves were outrebounded tonight 40-32, but they did force 3 more turnovers on the Rockets. Near the end, they could not convert them. The Wolves were desperately cold at the 3-point game shooting 3 for 20.
"Bottom line in this league, you've got to make shots, especially in the fourth quarter, to win games," said Wally Szczerbiak. "We're not doing it. I'm not doing it. We can put forth as much effort as we want on defense, but in this league, teams are too good. We're getting open looks. We're just not making them."
