(Minnesota 11/17/05) Kevin Garnett's near triple-double and an outstanding scoring spree by the Minnesota bench were the one-two punch that buried the Wizards tonght 109-98. Garnett had 25 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists in his all-star performance. Richie Frahm and Troy Hudson both had 11-point fourth quarters, for 16 points each.
Minnesota shot 53.5 percent from the field with Garnett hitting 12-of-19 shots and Frahm hitting 6-of-7.
Garnett shot 5-for-6 from the field in the second quarter, including a 20-footer
at the buzzer to give Minnesota a 57-47 halftime lead.
Wally Szczerbiak had 17 points and seven rebounds, two on the offensive end. With the Wolves hanging on to an 86-83 lead, Szczerbiak dove for a loose ball
and passed ahead to Frahm for a dunk. Then, after Hudson took a charge, Frahm
hit a 3-pointer to make it 93-83 with 6:07 left. Gilbert Arenas had 33 points for Washington.
"We came out with lots of energy," said KG in the post-game after his near triple-double. "We sort of contained Arenas (33 points) a little bit. He makes a lot of shots." |
