(Philadelphia 12/12/05 by Poundmaster) After Marco Jeric fouled out with 3 minutes to go in overtime, the Timberwolves did not score again, dropping a one-point overtime decision to the 76ers tonight in Philadelphia 90-89. Wally Szczerbiak had 23 points, while Kevin Garnett scored 19 with 7 rebounds. Chris Webber had 27 points and 21 rebounds.
The Timberwolves were killed on the boards tonight 51-39, and mustered only 5 offensive rebounds to the Sixers' 13. Michael Olowokandi had 10 defensive rebounds.
Amazingly, Garnett never went to the free throw line once in the 53-minute game. He had a game winning field goal opportunity at the buzzer in regulation but the shot bounced off the rim to the right.
The Sixers were up 10 points with a little over four minutes to go in the game, but the Timberwolves came storming back to tie the game 82-82.
In overtime, With a chance to win the game, Garnett split two defenders and had a seemingly
uncontested dunk before Webber got a piece of the ball, knocking it out of
bounds with 7.3 seconds to go. He had one more chance with zero on the clock.
"We slowed down Iverson and (Kyle) Korver, but then Webber comes up and bites us," Wolves coach Dwane Casey said. |
