Wolves lose to Kings on Bonzi Wells' last second three 93-91

(Minneapolis 12/13/05 by Poundmaster) Bonzi Wells unleashed a desperation 3 with .4 seconds on the clock to down the Wolves 93-91 in a game that went down to the wire. Wally Szczerbiak had 25 points and Kevin Garnett 22 in a losing cause. Mark Madsen led all rebounders in the game with 10 rebounds in only 20 minutes of play. Marko Jeric had a fine game with 16 points and 9 assists.
Earlier, with the score tied 89-89, Trenton Hassell scored on a drive to the bucket, scoring 6 of the last T-Wolves buckets to that moment. The Wolves led 91-89 with 31.1 remaining in the game.
Minnesota took their biggest lead of the game 76-71 with 7:28 to go when Wally Szczerbiak hit a fadeaway jumper, Mark Madsen rebounded a Kings miss, and Szczerbiak converted a drive down the center. Wally put the Wolves back in front by 5 again with his second three-pointer of the night. Hassell hit a clutch two from the corner to keep the Wolves ahead 87-83 at the 2:30 mark.
Olowokandi fouled out with 6 minutes remaining. He had 9 rebounds and played a hustle second half. Mark Madsen fouled out with a little over 3 minutes to go leading all rebounders on the floor with 10 boards, 3 on the offensive end.
The Wolves were down 69-86 with 9:18 to go when Marko Jaric hit a jumper to put the Wolves ahead 70-69 in a see-saw fourth quarter.
The Timberwolves went down 14 points in the second quarter of tonight's game, but came back as the half ended to draw within 5 points. Mark Madsen seemed to provide the energy when he entered the game, setting screens and grabbing three quick rebounds.
Timberwolves have tough first half with 38% shooting, but were out-rebounded the Kings in the game 44-25. |
