Mavericks run past Timberwolves 102-95 with fourth quarter flurry

(Dalla 12/18/05 by The Poundmaster) The Dallas Mavericks behind Josh Howard and Devin Harris outran the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight in a 4th quarter run to win their eighth win in nine games. Howard had 23 points for the the Mavs.
Wally Szczerbiak again led the Timberwolves in scoring with 28 points. Kevin Garnett had another double-double, 20 points and 16 rebounds. But Garnett was held to only 13 shots in the game, with only 3 shots in the fourth quarter. Troy Hudson contributed 20 points, but was off from 3-point range tonight shooting 1-6.
The Mavericks outran and out-shot the Timberwolves tonight, taking advantage of the the Wolves' focus on offensive boards. The Wolves missed enough free throws tonight for a tie.
The Wolves started slow out of the blocks in this game, building a deficit that they neve made up. They missed their first four shots, and went 6-for-19 in the first quarter. The scored only 16 points in the first quarter and 18 in the second to trail by nine points at halftime.
"I thought Dallas took us to the woodshed, especially in the first half," Casey said. "We didn't come out like we were on a three-game skid... We have to have more distribution from other guys stepping up" |
