*Jaric sparks Wolves over Mavs, AP
(Minnesota 1/4/2006 by Poundmaster) The Minnesota Timberwolves came back tonight with their own 31 point 3rd quarter to down the Dallas Mavericks 91-78. The Miami Heat had gone on a 30 point 3rd quarter binge to burn the Timberwolves Sunday night. The Mavericks were 11-4 on the road until tonight. The Wolve remain 1st in the Western Conference
Marco Jeric got the game ball with one of his career-best nights scoring 22 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Kevin Garnett was his usual sensational self with another (ho-hum) double double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin had 5 assists, and scored 10 of his points in the big third quarter. Trenton Hassell added 14 points in the victory. The Timberwolves did a good job defensively tonight on Dirk Nowitzki who had 23 points, but seemed lost during parts of the game.
The Wolves won the turnover battle 11-15, and were close on the boards 39-40. They shot 47% from the field and 83% from the free throw line. The defense held Dallas to 37% shooting tonight. |
