(MN 1/22/06 by Poundmaster) Chris Webber missed a layup with 1.2 seconds left, and the rebound went long to an airborne Andre Iguoldala who followed with an unreal 10-foot touch-and-release putback as the clock hit 00.0 and the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves who had led the entire game by a score of 86-84. Allen Iverson had 39 points in the victory which saw the Wolves lose a 19 point lead steadily over the second half.
Wally Szczerbiak scored 18 points while Kevin Garnett had his double double 13 points an 14 rebounds. Marco Jaric scored 15, Trenton Hassell 14, and Eddie Griffin 13 points with 10 rebounds.
With 29.2 seconds remaining, Chris Webber stole a pass and the Sixers got an offensive rebound to leave the game tied at 84-84. The Wolves then missed a jump shot, leaving the Sixers 9 seconds to plan their last shot.
Earlier at the 58.4 second mark, the 76ers had pulled within one point 84-83 of the Timberwolves with 58.4 seconds remaining on Chris Webber's 26-foot three point jumper assisted by Allen Iverson. Garnett fouled Iverson and Iverson made the 2nd of two free throws to tie the Wolves who had led most of the game.
In the fourth quarter, the Sixers poured it on behind Iverson to pull within one point with 8 minutes to go in the game. Iverson already had 36 points by that time. But the Wolves scored quickly and forced an shot clock violation to go out by 7 points 77-70 with 6:09 left in the game.
The Timberwolves led the 76ers by 10 at the end of the first half 53-43. After building a 19 point lead in the 3rd quarter, the Sixers came back to finished the quarter down 12 at 67-55. KG already had his double double by that time with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The Wolves continued their balanced scored among Wally with 14, Eddie with 13, and Jaric with 11. Eddie had 9 rebounds and a blocked shot at that point
The Timberwolves again started strong to lead 22-14 at the end of the 1st quarter. Jaric, Szczerbiak and Griffin each scored a balanced 6 in the quarter, and KG pulled down 7 rebounds, two on the offensive end.
In the battle for playoffs, the T-Wolves went down 2 games to Denver who won today.
