Cavaliers come from 15 points down to edge the Timberwolves 97-91

(MN 2/8/2006 by Poundmaster) The Cleveland Cavaliers came back from a 15 point deficit to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-91. LaBron James led the Cavs with 34 points. Ricky Davis has 33 points and Kevin Garnett had 21 points and 18 rebounds for the Wolves.
The Timberwolves were badly outrebounded in the second half, and 51-41 on the game. The difference was from three point range where the Cavs scored 12 more points than the Wolves.
A Ricky Davis deep three with 9 seconds remaining gave hope to the Timberwolves bringing the to a 93-91 deficit. But "Z" Ilgauskas calmly sunk two free throws to make to 95-91 with 8.5 seconds left. Davis missed a three try, and the game was effectively over.
The Timberwolves went back up by 8 at 58-50 behind back to back Ricky Davis three pointers. Davis hit the 20 point mark on a three as the 2nd half opened, putting the Wolves up 53-48 at the 10 minute mark. The Cavs pulled to within two points at 60-58, but a Mark Madsen hook shot put it back to 4 points at 62-58.
Mark Madsen had reentered the game at the 5 minute mark in the 2nd quarter. A Madsen rebound and a Banks drive put the Wolves back up by 5, 42-37. A Davis steal with a Justin Reed full court athletic leaping follow up stuff made it 44-37. A Madsen offensive save, followed by two KG free throws made it 46-39 at 2:14. A jet-hammer alley-oop by Davis made it 48-40.
At the 6 minute mark in the first quarter the Timberwolves were up 19-4 behind Ricky Davis' 11 points and Mark Madsen hustle plays. Mad Dog (Madsen) and Anthony Carter started again for the second game in a row. Madsen blocked the Cavs first shot in the game to set the hustle tone.
