(Minnesota 1/10/06) The Utah Jazz defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 94-80 as the Wolves turned the ball over 18 times in the game, and were able to get to the line only 15 times. The Timberwolves went 0 for 4 to start the 4th quarter, scoring only 2 points in the first 6:30. Both teams shot under 40% in the game.
Utah's Matt Harpring came off the bench to score 25 points. Trenton Hassell led the Timberwolves with 19 points. Ricky Davis had 18 points. Kevin Garnett had 16 points and 18 rebounds. Mark Madsen had 9 rebounds, three on offense.
"27 Points from the line for Utah, on 35 attempts," reported Kent Youngblood. "The Jazz had 10 more points from the line than the Wolves had attempts."
The Jazz led the Timberwolves 75-64 after three quarters. The Timberwolves opened the 3rd quarter in a zone and pulled to within 3 points on a Carter Jumper at the 7:30 mark. KG fought for a follow up shot to pull within 1 point at 52-51 at 6:27. Both Mark Madsen and Hassell showed some tough board work to make it 54-53 at 5:41.
The Timberwolves were down 50-39 at halftime tonight. Garnett sat out much of the first half, while the bench carried the load. KG and Madsen controlled the boards for the Wolves with 8 and 5 boards respectively. The Timberwolves only got one free throw shot in the first half.      (MN 2/8/2006 by Poundmaster) The Cleveland Cavaliers came back from a 15 point deficit to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-91. LaBron James led the Cavs with 34 points. Ricky Davis has 33 points and Kevin Garnett had 21 points and 18 rebounds for the Wolves.
The Timberwolves were badly outrebounded in the second half, and 51-41 on the game. The difference was from three point range where the Cavs scored 12 more points than the Wolves.  A Ricky Davis deep three with 9 seconds remaining gave hope to the Timberwolves bringing the to a 93-91 deficit. But "Z" Ilgauskas calmly sunk two free throws to make to 95-91 with 8.5 seconds left. Davis missed a three try, and the game was effectively over.
The Timberwolves went back up by 8 at 58-50 behind back to back Ricky Davis three pointers. Davis hit the 20 point mark on a three as the 2nd half opened, putting the Wolves up 53-48 at the 10 minute mark. The Cavs pulled to within two points at 60-58, but a Mark Madsen hook shot put it back to 4 points at 62-58.
