Anthony hits last second clutch three from corner to beat Wolves 102-101

(Minnesota 2/24/2006 by Poundmaster) With 3 seconds on the clock, Carmelo Anthony hit an amazing clutch corner three with Trenton Hassell in his face to give the Nuggets a 102-101 overtime victory over the Timberwolves tonight. Seconds earlier, it looked like a different outcome. The Wolves seem snake bit.
With 6.5 seconds left in a tied game, Ricky Davis had stolen an inbounds pass and scored on a jumper to put the Timberswolves up 101-99.
The Timberwolves had 3 seconds left on the final play but could not score. In fact, they missed two excellent last second opportunities in this game, one in regulation and one in overtime with plenty of time left to shoot. In neither instance did they get a decent shot.
Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 30 points, followed by Kevin Garnett with 23 points and 15 rebounds. The Nuggets spoiled a night when Garnett made double digits in his 300th consecutive game. Roclu Davos jad 19 points on 7 of 18 shooting. Markus Banks had an excellent outing with 19 points and 5 assists.
Kevin Garnett blocked the first shot in overtime, but Kenyon Martin came back with two successive buckets making it 90-88 Nuggest. at 3:43. Miller made it 94-90 after a Banks jumper. Banks hit again at 1:15 to make it 96-95 Nuggets. Lamar Johnson hit a three at 1:00 to make it 99-95. .
