Wolves hand on in 4th for 95-89 win vs Kings

(Minnesota 3/19/06 by Poundmaster) The Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a jinx of sort this afternoon, keeping a fourth quarter lead for the first time in seven games, and defeating the Sacramento Kings 95-89. Kevin Garnett won the scoring battle with Mike Bibby 37 to 35, and had 10 rebounds for his double double. Both Ricky Davis and Marcus Banks had 6 assist. Tenton Hassell added 12 points and Rashad McCants 11.
The teams were even 19-19 after the first quarter, but the Timberwolves led at halftime 40-35 in a low-scoring, defensive first half. The Wolves held onto a three point lead at the end of three. The Kinds tied the Wolves at the beginning of the 4th quarter, but the Wolves came back this time for the win. |

Kevin Garnett had 20 points and 17 rebounds. It was the Timberwolves 7th straight loss and 8th straight on the road. Once again, the Wolves led at halftime. |

(Los Angeles 3/15/2006 by Poundmaster from Peking) Kobe Bryant scored twice in the last 34 seconds to lift the Los Angeles Lakers past the Timberwolves 92-89 in aother battle down to the wire. Bryant had 25 points to lead all scorers. Marcus Banks had a fine game with 18 points and 8 assists.
The Minnesota Timberwolves tied the Lakers at 74-74 with 7:46 remainingm and then exchanged baskets. The Wolves took the lead 84-81 with 2:31 remaining on two consecutive slam dunks by McCants and Banks. |
