Timberwolves down Heat 100-96 in last second win; Blount defense, Garnett free throws ice win

(MN 3/21/06 by Poundmaster) The Minnesota Timberwolves went on a 37-13 run in the second half to erase a Miami Heat 57-50 lead and hang on to defeat the Miami Heat 100-96 in a game that went down to the final seconds. Ricky Davis had 26 points with 10 assists and Kevin Garnett had 23 points with 11 rebounds.
Duane Wade who had 35 points to lead the Heat, had the opportunity at 98-96 with 2 seconds remaining, but Mark Blount defended and forced a miss. Kevin Garnett was fouled, went to the line, and iced two free throws to put the game out of reach.
Ricky Davis took an offensive charge with 1:36 remaining to force a critical Heat turnover, leaving the score 98-90. But Alonzo Mourning made a three point play to make it 98-93 with 1:01 remaining. The Wolves then fouled Wade from three point range with 34.4 seconds remaining, and Wade made all three free throws to make it 98-96 Timberwolves.
