(MN 3/29/06 by Poundmaster) Kevin Garnett was one rebound short of his third 20-20 game of the season as he lifted the Timberwolves to a 103-91 victory over the Orlando Magic. It was the Wolves 7th win in that last 8 games at home.
Garnett had 25 points and 19 rebounds with 6 assists, while Ricky Davis contributed 20 points and 10 assists in his own double-double.
Garnett was in the right place at the right time all night long, grabbing an offensive rebound with 3:49 to go, putting Ricky Davis on the free throw line for a 96-84 lead.
Anthony Carter took a Rashad McCants pass and hit a breakaway layup to start the fourth quarter for an 80-74 lead. Ricky Davis hit a jumper at 7:30 to put the Wolves up 86-78. Garnet then made it 88-80.
Mark Madsen entered the game at 2:42 in the third quarter and the score 70-68, giving Kevin Garnett a much needed rest. Mark picked up two quick offensive rebounds to keep the Wolves ahead 75-72 on a couple of Davis jumpers. Anthony Carter hit a last second trick shot, was fouled and hit the free throw to give them a 78-74 lead after three.
At 8:25 in the third quarter, Kevin Garnett blocked a DeShaw Stevenson layup, and Ricky Davis came down the floor, hitting the go-ahead bucket 60-58. By the 3:55 mark, the Wolves were up 70-64 on an 8-0 run. They were 10 for 13 at that point and shooting 60%.
The Timberwolves and the Magic both shot over 50% from the field as the Magic took a 53-49 lead at halftime.
